We are Cullinan Studio.
Since Ted Cullinan set up the practice as a cooperative in 1965, we were 'Edward Cullinan Architects'. In November 2012 we changed our name to 'Cullinan Studio': we are the same people, Ted still works with us and we continue to operate as an employee owned architects' practice.
We are based in Islington, North London where we work in a single studio which allows us to share knowledge and experience across all projects and allow teams to adjust as their needs ebb and flow.
We have worked with many different clients, producing very different solutions within commercial, cultural, housing, health, primary and secondary education sectors, in the University sector and in Urban Regeneration and Masterplanning.
To each of these projects we bring our common interests:
"This practice has spent the past 40 years working out how best to incorporate sustainability into its designs. The result is a philosophy of developing "long-life, loose fit, low energy" buildings...The firm is also committed to social sustainability. Most of its projects have a benefit for those people in society who need it most...But charity, as we know, begins at home, and the judges commented that Ted Cullinan has 'always had a great ethos in terms of employment practices'."
