Joey Wegrzyn
BSc (Hons)

Joey graduated from The Bartlett, University College London, in 2008 with a first class honors degree.

He is currently working at ECA whilst studying for his MPhil in Environmental Design in Architecture as part of a partnership between the University of Cambridge and the practice. His design thesis investigates the future form of Higher Education buildings in tropical climates. The thesis explores the integration of passive cooling methods at both the scale of a University campus and the individual building. Taking a site in Ahmedabad, India as a testing ground, the thesis sets out to tackle the effects of an extreme climate in a rapidly growing urban ecology.

Before joining ECA in April 2010, he spent a year as an architectural assistant at Walker Bushe Architects. During the summer of 2009, with a group of friends, Joey spent 3 months in the French Pyrenees helping to design and build a pair of two storey timber cabins, constructed using local materials and traditional techniques.

Currently, at ECA, he is part of the team working on the masterplan for a sustainable expansion of the town of Shahat in Libya.
