Robin Nicholson is a senior member of Cullinan Studio, which he joined in 1979. Previously he had worked for Jim Stirling and taught at the Bartlett and PNL. He was a Vice-President of the RIBA (1992-1994), Chairman of CIC (1998-2000) and a founder member of the Movement for Innovation Board (1998-2001); he continues to help develop the Design Quality Indicator.
Robin is a Board Member of the NHBC and chairs NHBC Services Ltd. He is Convenor of the inter-disciplinary Construction Industry think-tank The Edge, a member of the CABE Eco-Town Design Review Panel and chairs the Cambridgeshire Quality Panel.
Previously Robin has been a CABE Commissioner (2002-2010) where he chaired the Enabling Programme, lead on Climate Change and was Joint Deputy Chair from 2008 to 2010. He chaired the DCSF Zero Carbon (Schools) Task Force whose recommendations were accepted by the Secretary of State in January 2010.
Robin was awarded a CBE for Services to Architecture in 1999, an Honorary Fellowship of the Institution of Structural Engineers in 2002 and awarded an Honorary Fellowship of Chartered Institute of Building Services in 2013.
