PROJECT: Chilworth Park
LOCATION: Chilworth Manor, Hampshire
DATE: 1990
This Research Centre is a 100,000 sq ft development of six two-storey flexible pavilions set in a formal landscape adjoining the gardens of Chilworth Manor.
Designed for scientific research and development use, the scheme was jointly promoted by Southampton University and MEPC Developments.
The design takes its cue from the parkland setting of the grounds and in particular from the existing sequence of courts and terraces that surround the Manor; two pavilions define the entrance and four create a central public space with shared gardens between them.
