Clach Mhor in Inverness-shire was designed by Roddy Langmuir, a long-standing director of the practice, for his father. The building won a RIBA Award in 1994.
In essence, the building forms a viewing gallery looking out towards the Cairngorm mountains. The house uncoils from the sloping site to create a dramatic double-height living space, expressed as a circular belvedere anchored to the ground by the mass of its chimney.
