PROJECT: A New Masterplan for the Heart of the National Forest
LOCATION: National Forest
DATE: 2006
The Heart of the National Forest Foundation appointed us in February 2006 to design a masterplan for a new 1000 Acre Forest Park.
The site for this park lies at the centre of the 200 square mile National Forest, and is hence known as The Heart of the Forest. The realisation of The Heart of the Forest will fulfil local aspirations to repair the scarred landscape of this former colliery and landfill site.
New, largely timber structures included in the masterplan are a tree-top walkway, two iconic foot bridges, a look out tower with green transport hire at its base, a water sports centre and the Creative Forest Experience in a large Gridshell.
