PROJECT: Singapore Management University

LOCATION: Bras Basah, Singapore

DATE: 2001-2006

We were selected in an international competition to be the masterplanners of the 239,000 sq m University, and design five of the six buildings.

The site is on Bras Basah Park, in the heart of the historic centre of Singapore; the campus lies between and responds to three colonial buildings, the Art Museum, the National Museum and the Cathedral and is surrounded by mature rain trees.

This £120m build-cost project was developed on a fast-track to ensure that the piling was completed ahead of the boring of a new underground line under the buildings. Having worked with Singapore partners, KNTA Architects, the campus for 6,000 students was opened on 20 January 2006.
