PROJECT: Visitor Gateway Building
LOCATION: Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh
DATE: Due for completion 2009
Edward Cullinan Architects competition winning scheme for a new visitor gateway building to the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh began on site in September 2007.
The new centre will house exhibitions and a studio space for demonstrations and exploration into the world of plants.
Built of timber, glass and stone the Gateway cuts its impact on the environment with a range of renewable energy systems including biomass fuelled boilers, rainwater recovery, and a roof mounted wind turbine.
