Won through competition, this Gateway to the world-renowned Royal Botanic Garden of Edinburgh is set to become the voice of the institution to its visiting public
The new centre will house exhibitions and a studio space for demonstrations and exploration into the world of plants.
Built of timber, glass and stone the Gateway cuts its impact on the environment with a range of renewable energy systems including biomass fuelled boilers, rainwater recovery, and a roof mounted wind turbine.
The Gateway Building reached practical completion in August 2009
